Comics for Collectors was started in 1981 on the second floor of 148 The Commons, Ithaca by Bill Turner and Tim Gray. Bill and Tim are long-time comic book collectors, and are founding members of the Comic Book Club of Ithaca, the oldest active comic book fan club in the United States. In 2000, Bill Turner is the current President of the Comic Book Club of Ithaca. In 1994, the Ithaca store was moved to its current location at 207 North Aurora Street in Downtown Ithaca, just two blocks from the original site. While downtown, you can visit the outdoor mall, The Ithaca Commons. Ithaca is also the home of Cornell University and Ithaca College.
Customers with a membership card from Greenstar Food Co-op, U.S.S Accord Science Fiction Fan Club or the Comic Book Club of Ithaca receive a 10% discount on every item in our store. Members from other theme clubs (both in and outside of Ithaca) can also receive up to 10% off on any items that are in their special interest area (clubs must be active and supportive of the local economy/community in their hometown). Organizations in Ithaca that we have done this for include the Cornell Japanese Animation Society, Ithaca College Anime Club, and Cornell Strategic Simulations and Gaming Club.
Bill and Tim also operated two other locations together, but sadly, they are now closed. Their Corning store opened in 1991, and closed in 2001, while the Elmira location operated from 1983 to 1993. In 2000 Bill Turner sold his share in the business and Tim Incorpated the operation and it is now known as Comics For Collectors Inc.
